Getting Started with Google Groups

What is a Google Group?

A Google Group is an online discussion group or mailing list that helps groups of people communicate using email and the web. I setup the Ruscoe Family Genealogy Google Group for anyone with an interest in Ruscoe family history.

Subscribing to our Google Group

Here’s a quick guide to getting started with Google Groups. If you’re still having problems subscribing to the group after following this guide and checking the Google Groups Help Center – or if you think there’s something else I should include in this page – you can email me at webmaster@ruscoe.net.

There are two different ways to subscribe to the Ruscoe Family Genealogy Google Group. Which method you choose depends on how you want to receive and reply to any messages posted to the group.

Method 1 – Join using a Google Account

If you want to read the message archives or post new messages online, you must own a Google Account. If you choose this method, you’ll also be able to send and receive group messages by email.

Method 2 – Subscribe using your email address

If you prefer to only send and receive group messages by email, you can just subscribe to the Ruscoe Family Genealogy mailing list. (If you choose this method, you will not be able to read the message archives or view new messages online unless you later sign up for a Google Account.)
